The Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS) acts as an
impartial adjudicator on disputes that arise between betting/gambling operators and their customers after they have been through the operator's own internal
dispute procedures and if a deadlock exists.
The IBAS Panel of betting experts apply their specialist knowledge to the facts and adjudicate by reference
to the operator's own terms and conditions but do not rule on complex legal issues. As well as offering effective dispute resolution procedures, IBAS also
check that operators have complied with the standards set by the Gambling Commission and with the IBAS terms and conditions of registration. |

subject to these two considerations, to maximise the amounts of money raised for the Good Causes
To uphold the continuing success of the National
Lottery the Commission carries out a variety of tasks, among them:
- Ensuring that Camelot complies with the terms of its licence to operate the National
Lottery
- Vetting individuals and companies associated with the National Lottery to ensure that they are
"fit and proper"
- Considering applications to promote lotteries and granting licences for individual lottery
games
- Ensuring that Camelot meets performance standards and operates in accordance with the codes of
practice set by the Commission
- Ensuring the security of Camelot's central computer systems and retailer terminal

licence expires at the end of September 2001. |
